- The lumbar motion segment is a 360° joint.
- To be effective, any implant must provide a solution that will address both the facet joint and the disc space.
Present Solution ‘When you only have a hammer, everything looks like a nail.’ At present over 60 million people suffer from lower back pain and of this amount over 1 million are treated surgically. Fusion has been found to dramatically alter the biomechanics of the spine. It is a short term solution and accelerates adjacent level degeneration. Non fusion devices are not total motion solutions and tend to shift forces on the spine to the facets. Technical and Design Considerations
